Our Varieties
Somercotes Tasmanian cherries produce a wide range of cherry varieties, including white fleshed and the dark red fleshed varieties.
The varieties we grow are:
Stella
– Dark red and sweet. This attractive heart shaped fruit is available in early January.
Van
– A shiny red cherry that everyone loves and available for Christmas.
Simone
– Like Lapins these are large and sweet.
Lapins
– This variety follows Stella with large sweet fruit with deep red colour. Massive in size and taste.
Sweet Georgia
– The Sweet Georgia cherry is a late-maturing variety with dark red skin and sweet, golden-red flesh, harvested mid-January onwards.
Regina
– A sweet-tart variety with large, dark red to purple fruits, known for its late bloom, resistance to cracking.
Vega
– White fleshed early season cherry. Large with red and gold skin. Very popular pre-Christmas variety.
Stella
– Dark red and sweet. This attractive heart shaped fruit is available in early January.
Sweetheart
– Large crunchy red fruit with dark red sweet flesh.
Chelan
– An early fruit with mahogany red skin and a beautiful flavour.
Grace Star
– A sweet, firm, and vibrant red. They’re harvested in mid to late summer and are prized for their high yield and disease resistance.
Kordia
– large, firm, and sweet dark-red to black fruit, with high resistance to cracking and susceptibility to spring frosts.
